Back in 2014, I heard Sebastian Terry speak at an event about his ongoing bucket list, travelling the world and locally ticking off bucket list items, living more fully and living every day as if it was his last.

Worldwide, there are approximately 1 billion children living in poverty, 300 million children without shoes, 22,000 children die each day from poverty. It was these alarming statistics that inspired Kathy to take notice and feel compelled to help.

Today, I was incredibly moved when my partner in crime JP O'Sullivan, Projects Director of Hope UK shared with me a story of this little boy.

I love the one-for-one idea, and at Moeloco we also explain it as parallel giving because it's an easy concept for people to understand.

During a particular crossroads in my life earlier this year, I came across the quote, "Be the change you wish to see in the world." I thought about it deeply and when I awoke one morning, I realized that I could no longer remain in my comfort zone; I had to do something that had genuine meaning and I had to make a difference to other people's lives.

There are over 250,000 children living on the streets of Kolkata. This is where they are born, where they try to survive and in many cases - and it breaks my heart to say this but it's important we don't gloss over this - where they die.

The world in 2015 is moving faster than ever before. Technology makes everything easier, yes. But it also makes everything faster. And what's happening? As humans we are trying to keep up. A marathon of life that is actually stripping creativity and its need for space from our subconscious.

As anyone who follows Moeloco and the Hope Foundation know, help extends to teaching the children and young adults they work with skills that can set them up for a future career. It gives the children a new skill, something to strive for.

Today we wanted to share with you some of the children's stories. Unfortunately there are hundreds more just like these ones, but we are so moved that our work with The Hope Foundation is making a real, social impact in the lives of kids, just like these guys.

We can tell others within our sphere of influence that child poverty isn't someone else's problem. It's ours, too. And we can make a difference.
